Really odd dream last night. I spent $2,500 on a 1992 Lexus ES300 coupe (even though Lexus never made an ES coupe). It was green, had 268K miles, and was in rough shape. Both front seats had split seams, the hood was entirely rusted and didn’t even fit right (I think it was actually a hood from a Mazda 626), and the previous owner had replaced the Lexus emblems with Scion badges, which had been affixed upside-down. I had plans to restore the junker to like-new condition, and everyone was asking me why. That’s a very good question.
Also, $2,500 for a trashed, high-mileage, 24-year-old fancy Camry? I got swindled. Maybe the fact that it was the non-existent two-door model made it worth more?
I only dream in this kind of “Rain-Man-like” detail when it’s about cars. I can even read license plates in dreams and then remember them later. But damned if I try to remember people’s names or what they look like.

Considering they actually made a Camry Coupe for that gen, it should’ve existed.

Would’ve cannibalized sales from the SC300, though.

Yeah, I prefer the RWD V8/I6 Coupe in the SC400/300 for a luxury brand vs a FWD I4 or V6 Coupe in the Camry. Still, I wonder how it would’ve looked, since the ES looks way better than the Camry.

Well, I did find this not-so-great Photoshop in GIS.

That’s so awkwardly small, it looks adorable.

I’m similar, but with almost all of my dreams. I can tell you exact things that were said and who said them (assuming the person who said it was a real person). I can say exactly what happened and describe things in incredible detail. Probably due to my eidetic (photographic) memory.

Doesn’t everyone have this dream?

This is why automotive dreams are the worst! Too life like.. and then you wake up.. Womp.

... Y’know what? I’d happily stick with the family sedan. And I’m also glad it’s not a ‘92.

I think you could get a later gen 1MZ-FE for less and it’ll still run as great as the early models. Unless you’re Raphael Orlove.
Did the 1MZ models come with the manual?
